Our Analysis: Apartment and townhome dwellers will find the Confidence Fitness bike quite a space saver. While the name is a mouthful (Confidence Fitness Space Saving X Bike), the design is not. With a weight about 40 pounds and the ability to fold up for storage, this exercise bike is one of the smallest around.
The Confidence Fitness exercise bike has 10 different resistance levels which are controlled by a dial that is placed well within reach of the user. The resistance can be changed anytime during the ride to alter the intensity of the exercise. Unlike models such as the Schwinn 240, this bike does not have special workout programs which change the resistance automatically. Instead, the resistance is manually controlled by the user.

People who have used the Confidence Fitness bike enjoy the large control screen whose large print is easy to read even with the absence of a backlit screen. The computer tracks only the most important statistics which include Speed, Distance, Calories and Time. The computer will not store multiple sessions’ worth of data, so you’ll need to write it down. As with most magnetic exercise bikes, this space-saving model is very quiet when pedaling.
Owners claim that it is so quiet that you can watch television or listen to your MP3 player without problems. The unit does make a very light whirring noise when transitioning between resistance levels. Wide pedals with safety straps keep the feet in place at all speed levels.
Small units like these do come at a cost. Users which approach or exceed six feet in height have complained that the unit is simply too small for their body size. The small pedal radius requires experienced users to pedal unusually fast in order to receive a challenge. As an upright, this model has a bicycle-style seat that many people claim to be quite hard and uncomfortable to ride on. This problem can be solved with the purchase of a gel seat cover or the use of a wash cloth to add padding.
A tool kit is included with this bike, as well as all of the necessary hardware and instruction booklet. The simplicity of the Confidence Fitness bike has allowed people to assemble their new bike in under 30 minutes in most cases. After a quick seat adjustment, the exercise bike is ready to ride.
